Dixie CONN Obituary
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dr. Michael Conn; children, Jessica Conn, of Roanoke, Daniel Conn, of Raleigh, N.C., and Luke Conn, of Conway, S.C.; father, Lloyd Self, of Shelby, N.C.; mother, Charlene Bush, of Roanoke; sisters, Terrie Melton, of Shelby, N.C. and Dee Kazinec and husband, Brian, of Atlanta, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Conway Christian School, 1200 Medlen Parkway, Conway, SC 29526.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Andrews and the Rev. Jeff York. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. 540-366-0707.

God truly received an angel. Dixie was a gracious, selfless, devoted soul & touched so many, especially the children. She was blessed with an amazing voice that was unmistakable & could touch your heart with the first tone. Dixie was a true friend to all & will be sadly missed. So sorry to hear about the passing of Dixie. I knew her from New Hope Day Care where my son Devin went. Always thought a lot of her. She will be truly be missed. I know the children thought a lot of her too. She was great at the Day Care. My thoughts are with the family in the days to come.

We were so terribly saddened to hear of Dixie's passing. Mike pastored our Snowville Church and performed our wedding and Dixie sang with her beautiful angelic voice. She is definitely seeing with the angels as we speak. Our sincere sympathy goes out to Mike and family during this difficult time of letting go, but also knowing you will one day see her again. Heaven's choirs are just a little sweeter today than they were a few days ago. I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Dixie's death but my thoughts immediately were turned to the many songs she sang about not being able to wait to see her Savior and walking the streets of gold and many more. I truly believe that she meant it and that she is rejoicing right now with a new body and even a more beautiful voice than she had here on earth! Mike, Jessica, Daniel and Luke, my heart goes out to you and my prayers will be with you in the days and weeks to come. Pastor Mike and family, so sorry to hear about Ms Dixie, she was loved dearly and she will be missed. She is in glory now with our Lord and Savior. I can still hear that beautiful voice and now she sings with the angels.
