Offering my heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Catron's children and extended family for the loss of their mother and relative. Most of you will probably remember me as "Raz".

To the family of Dorothy S. Catron,
Please bear with me since I know that this note may seem a little odd to you. My wife and I currently live in Chesterfield, Virginia but, between 1982 and 1988, we lived in Salem and Roanoke. I worked at Friendship Manor Nursing Home between November 1984 and April 1988. During the time I spent at Friendship Manor, I worked, on occasion, with a nurse, a Mrs. Catron, and I was wondering if your mother was the same Mrs. Catron. Mrs. Catron worked occasionally in the assisted living facility at Friendship Manor. If your mother is the same person, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed working with Mrs. Catron and thought she was a very nice person. Even if she is not the same person that I worked with at Friendship Manor, I want to express my sympathy at your loss. My own mother died one year ago in May and I think I understand the sense of loss you are probably feeling at the present time.
Take care and best wishes to you.

Dear Vicki and Lanny,
I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Catron was always so gracious and sweet to me. I am very happy I got to know her while she was at South Roanoke, as she would always brighten my day. It will not be the same without her.

i met Mrs. Catron when i was sixteen working at South Roanoke Nursing Home. i first learned her name giving her my first plate of the career, she asked me if it was my first day, and told me she though so because i looked so nervous. From that moment on we became friends, some night we would laugh tegether other nights we would cry together, she shared the most personal moments with me. I took her back to her room every night and with each night i thought of her more and more as a mother. If there was a such thing as a guardian angle to be placed on this earth to help a young boy grow into a man... well I feel blessed know that Mrs. Catron was mine. I know this time is tough, it will always be tough. But i know i will grow old remember the stories herd and the stories made the beloved Mrs. Catron gave me. I send to you my upmost sympathy and care.
with love,
Ryne Kesterson
