Dorothy Dalton Obituary

Dorothy Mary Hudson Dalton, of Ferrum, Va., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, William Hudson; mother, Annie Kerr Hudson; husband, Gordon E. Dalton; and grandson, Christopher M. Thompson. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend. She lived her life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was a member of the Garden City Church of the Nazarene, yet attended Story Creek Baptist Church, Ferrum. Surviving are her daughters, Linda King and spouse, Kermit, of Linden, Va., Joanne Hill and spouse, Frank, of Vinton, Va., Karen Thompson and spouse, Chris, of Ferrum, and Tamara Callahan and spouse, Joe, of Florida; son, Richard G. Dalton and spouse, Donna, of Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Mickey Zimmerman; seven grandchildren, Dusty Brown and spouse, Wayne, Frank Hill Jr., David Hill and spouse, Jennifer, Kimberly Personaski and spouse, Dan, Jennifer Campbell, Kaylee Callahan, and Hanna Callahan; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel by Pastor Floyd Harrison. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.

Mom,
Chris and I miss you so much. You have always been an inspiration to me and will always be a part of me. Thank you for being such a wonderful Mother and friend. It was mine and Chris's pleasure to have you with us for the last 2 years and we would not have traded anything for the time we had with you. It gives me a peace knowing your in Heaven with our Lord, but it is so hard not having you here with us. I know that one day you and I will walk those streets of gold together, because I know I will see you again. You have always been an amazing woman in every way. I just wanted your family to know that I plan to keep you all in my prayers through this tough time.
Dusty I love you and I have always considered your family as my own. I am so sorry for your lose, but she is in a much better place now. I'm sure she is enjoying her time with her husband, now that they are finally back together.
