WEST GARDINER – Elizabeth "Betty" (Diamond) Dore, 82, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Woodlands Senior Living in Hallowell, Maine. Born in Gardiner, Maine, on February 28, 1943.
Betty enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing, reading and crafts. On her 60th birthday she went bungee jumping and on her 70th birthday she went skydiving for the first time. She was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She was a very active supporter of the Radford Highlanders Basketball teams. You could find her at all home games, dressed all in red, sitting in her assigned front seat, cheering on her favorite team.
She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1960. After high school she worked for the State of Maine, after taking night classes at UMA and USM, she received her degree in education. She taught at Gardiner Middle School for many years before moving to Colorado then to Radford Virginia where she proudly earned her doctorate and became a Professor at Radford University. She retired in 2020.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Richard Dore; parents, Elsie and Leroy Emery; brother, Bill Diamond; and grandson, Steve Atkins.
She is survived by her sister, Darlene McCormick and husband, Earle; sister-in-law, Jane Diamond; son, Robert Masciadri; daughter, Angela Atkins; stepdaughter, Cathryn Ridlen; grandsons, Wesley, Garrett, Bradley, Dylan, Justin and Nick; granddaughter, Brittany; and best friend, Cheryl White.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Woodlands in Hallowell and Andwell Hospice Care.
To honor Betty's wishes, there will be no services.
