August 11, 1939 - May 21, 2025
Ellen Cynthia Boitnott of Botetourt County, Va., passed away peacefully at Lewis Gale Hospital on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, and joyfully entered the presence of the Lord at the age of 85.
Ellen was born in Fairhope, Ala., on August 11, 1939. After high school graduation, she married the love of her life, the late Lawrence William Boitnott, and raised four children in Virginia.
She was a full-time homemaker for most of her life. Through the years, she faithfully served in church as a Sunday school teacher, an active member of the women's group, and alongside her husband in Gideons International, including various roles in the Women's Auxiliary. Her servant's heart was evident in all she did, from raising her children and cherishing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to giving generously of her time as a volunteer. She consistently pointed everyone she met to her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her mother and father, Ebbie and Geneva Cobb; and her sister, Ruthie Woodard.
Ellen is survived by her four children, Lorrie Lawson of Salem; and her husband, Wayne; Linda Ellis of Salem, Va. and her husband, Kenny; Tim Boitnott and Lorna Vanostrand of Roanoke, Va.; and Lisa Vest of Melbourne, Fla. and her husband, Scott; her eight grandchildren; and her eight great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Celebration of Life and Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Glade Creek Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Gideons International. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.Oakeys.com.

We were saddened to hear of Ellen´s passing. She was one of the kindest individuals I met. Her walk with Christ was evident in all she did. She deeply loved her family and was a wonderful wife and mother. A role model for all in the importance of kindness, compassion and love. We send prayers of comfort during this difficult time.
