Ellen Drucilla Burrell

Ellen Drucilla Burrell, 66, of Fincastle, Va., passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. She was born on October 9, 1942, in Fincastle to George and Otelia Burns Brown. She attended Academy Hill High School then she married the late Clarence William Burrell Sr. and moved to Lapsley Run, Va., where she was a housewife. Ellen then moved to Fincastle where she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Fincastle. Ellen enjoyed life and loved to talk with friends and family on the phone, watching TV, word search puzzles, shopping, dancing, reading, writing letters, makeup and keeping up with everyone, but she especially loved to play with her grandchildren. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, George and Otelia Burns Brown; husband, Clarence William Burrell Sr.; and her brothers, Andrew Brown and George Wilmer Brown Jr. Ellen is survived by her sons, Clarence William Burrell Jr. (Marie Willis), Coleman Burrell, Bobby Burrell and Larry Burrell, all of Fincastle; her grandchildren, Demetrius Willis, Keaton Willis, Clarence Willis, Brandi Burrell, Leron Smith, and BJ Burrell; her sisters, Bertha Burrell and her husband, Kelvin, of Fincastle, Margeurite Johnson and her husband, Wilford, of Troutville, Minnie Ann Brown, of Salem, and Josephine Thompson, of Fincastle; her brothers, Robert T. Brown and his wife, Genevieve, of Buchanan, Wayne David Brown, of Roanoke, Michael Brown and his wife, Alice, of Fincastle, and William Brown and his wife, Patricia, of Troutville; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. Friends are welcome to call on Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. A funeral service celebrating Ellen's life will be held 3 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at First Baptist Church of Fincastle Cemetery with the Rev. Montie Brown Sr. officiating.
