Eunice Weaver Obituary

Eunice Grey Frye Poole Weaver

January 3, 1930 - November 29, 2022

In loving memory, Eunice Grey Frye Poole Weaver was called to be with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2022.

Eunice was born on January 3, 1930, and raised in Saltville, Va. She was the daughter of Walter and Josephine Hopkins Frye. After High School, Eunice graduated from Roanoke Memorial and Crippled Children's Hospital Nursing School in 1951, where she fell in love and married the late Dr. Richard D. Poole. Eunice and Dr. Poole traveled with his job in higher education. Eunice served as an infirmary nurse at Ohio Northern, Bowling Green, Indiana, and High Point Universities. The Pooles' had two children, Michael Lee Poole (Tammy) and Richard "Jay" Poole (Michelle). Unfortunately, Eunice was widowed in 1960. Several years later, Eunice married the late Franklin D. Weaver. The Weavers' had three children, Leonard "Dale" Weaver (Cheryl), Jill Suzann Weaver Shultis (Dean), and Anita Grey Weaver.

As a woman of strong faith, Eunice was a devoted nurse at the Salem Veterans Administration Hospital for 35 years. The love and care that she brought to her five children is deeply appreciated by them and admired by all. Eunice was highly involved in the Troutville, Daleville and Lord Botetourt High School athletic booster clubs and committees at the Daleville Baptist Church. When not in a nursing uniform, Eunice actively supported her children's endeavors on the ballfields, recitals, and scholarship pageants.

Eunice leaves behind 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Gavin Michael Shultis. Ten grandchildren, Steve Poole, Shawna Poole, Candice Poole Mrazik (Jeff), Julie Poole Elmore (Andrew), Heather Poole Newmyer (Brandon), Brandon Weaver (Katy), Kaitlyn Weaver, Severin Shultis, Sarah Shultis, and Kaila Weaver. Nine great-grandchildren, Autumn and Landon Poole, Joseph, Zachary, David, and Sophie Mrazik, Grey and Mallie Elmore, and Lucas Newmyer.

A celebration of a life well-lived will be held 11 a.m., Friday December 9, 2022, at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor Mark Tolley officiating. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. Eunice's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022.

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs Weaver. She was so good to Mary and Thomas Kirby. I have good memories of her
She took care of Buster's head when he fell on the fireplace. She was a good nurse and much appreciated.
