Gary Keenan Greer

July 30, 1946 - September 25, 2025

Gary Keenan Greer, 79, of Salem, Va., passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025. He was born July 30, 1946, son of the late Donald and Hazel Greer.

Gary owned and operated his own sheet metal business of over 40 years, he was the primary vendor for Walker Foundry, Lewis Gale Hospital and Valleydale Foods.

Gary was a graduate of Jefferson Senior High School in 1964. He had a creative spirit, having made the 1st star that was used on New Years Eve at the City Market.

He volunteered with Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center. He was a huge lover of all animals and had many of his own, especially cats.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon Layman Greer; daughter, Dawn R. Miller and husband, Jake; their children, Jacob M. Dalton (Kayla), Emily G.I. Dalton, Isaac D. Miller (Kaiti), Sue-Anna D. Dalton, Mark K. Miller and Mathew M. Miller; and 13 great-grandchildren; daughter, Lori M. Blankenship and husband, Gary and their son, Hunter Blankenship.

His wishes were not to have a service which is being honored by his family. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center or any other animal organization. Condolences may be shared with his family by visiting www.Oakeys.com.
