George LYNCH Obituary

George DeWitt Lynch Jr., 70, of Roanoke, departed this life on Friday, April 12, 2013. He was born in Roanoke on March 6, 1943, to the late George D. Lynch Sr. and Juanita Ferguson Lynch. George was also preceded in death by one brother, David. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from the United States Postal Service. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Annette Sharp Lynch; children, Kendall Lynch, George D. (Julie) Lynch III, Carol J. (John) Mitchell, Dennis L. (Lori) Beard, Tia and Cheri; siblings, Malchom (Tony), Shirley (Cookie), Gussie, James (Sweet Pea), Kirk (Sad Sack), Frank, Doris, Jeanette and John; sister- in-law, Terri Lynch; a host of beloved grandchildren; great- grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will assemble at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.Hamlar-Curtis.com.

i remember big lynch as a larger than life gentle giant with a welcoming smile. he had many friends, and it was easy to see why. he was easy going, and that soft spoken deep voice. you can never forget george , just close your eyes you can see him.
