George was very much a part of my golfing career as a youngster. I remember all the RVGA events at Blue Hills and Countryside like it was yesterday. Golf continues to be a huge part in my life and people like George May and HL Jackson helped mold that. The Roanoke Valley has not only lost a great man but the Roanoke golf community has truly lost a pioneer. My hope is that the legacy of George will continue to live strong for many years to come.

I will never forget Mr. Mays jokes in Algebra class back in the day, or his sweet nature, kindness, and generosity to me and my co-workers at Mac & Bobs-- We will all miss him very much I never had another teacher who joked about putting his cat in the dryer, while multiplying fractions-- He loved his job, and it showed in the many students lives he has touched.... May God be with you and your family in your loss--

I am so sorry for your loss. I had Mr. May for 6th period this year, when he was suddenly taken from us. I will miss walking into his class and being the first one there, sitting and talking with him. He was such a sweet man, who had not an ounce of hate in him, and I considered him as a second father. I will keep you in my prayers Mary Katherine, and the rest of the family. God Bless You Mr. May, you were a great example to all of us.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. May. I would have never gotten through math without Mr May's help, patience and his willingness to teach, I spent many of mornings in the math lab while at Salem High School. I will always remember his smile, his willingness to teach and to help those who really were lost. He had a special gift for helping those lost soles in math (like myself). I am deeply saddened by this loss for your family and for the loss of such an amazing teacher at Salem High School as he is irreplaceable.

I will always remember the kindness that Linda and George showered upon me when I moved into the Roanoke Valley. Even after I moved, I was always welcomed when I just dropped in or stopped by. Their friendship was a stablizer in my hectic pace of life. While sadden by their departure from our lives, I am joyous in the fact they are together in heaven.

Mr. May,
It's so unreal that this has happened. I never got the chance to have you as a teacher but that didn't mean a thing. You always spoke to me in the halls like you have known me forever. With that big smile of yours. It always made my day. I'm going to miss you a lot!
