Not sure what to say?

Of all the teachers I had at Salem High he was one of my favorites. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I was sorry to hear about George's passing. We were friends at Martinsville High School in the 60's. He was always fun to be around. May God give you strength and uplift you in the days to come. Our thoughts & prayers are with you in the loss of someone so special.

George was very much a part of my golfing career as a youngster. I remember all the RVGA events at Blue Hills and Countryside like it was yesterday. Golf continues to be a huge part in my life and people like George May and HL Jackson helped mold that. The Roanoke Valley has not only lost a great man but the Roanoke golf community has truly lost a pioneer. My hope is that the legacy of George will continue to live strong for many years to come.

Please accept our deepest sympathies. We knew George from his golfing activities and employment at Countryside Golf Club. He was a true gentlemen and good friend.

Very Sincerely,

Sally & Rod Jack

George,
Thanks for the good times at "The Rock" and mostly for the support and encouragement you gave my sons during their junior golf days. You are missed my friend.

Mary Kathryn,

I am sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences. Your Dad was my Geometry teacher in 1972. He gave Key club members and football players the special attention we needed to succeed. He was an excellent teacher and a good man. He will be missed by many.

I was so very saddened to hear my former math teacher at Martinsville High School had passed. He was a great teacher a wonderfull man and just an outstanding person.

My father, Hartwell Philips, knew George through golfing circles and the Roanoke City School system. He always spoke highly of him and his grand sense of joy and laughter. I am sorry for your loss.

What a celebration of life! George will always be remembered by our family as an exceptional educator, great golfer and valued friend. Although he will be sadly missed, he is in heaven with his partner. Our sincerest sympathies to his daughter.
