Guyeannetta Sutliff Powers

February 4, 1945 - June 11, 2025

Guyeannetta Sutliff Powers, 80, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2025, in Forest, Virginia.

Born on February 4, 1945, Guyeannetta was the daughter of the late Richard and Lillian Sutliff. She was the wife of the late Ronald "Ronnie" Powers.

Guyeannetta earned her accounting degree from Virginia Western. She worked at Chem-Solv for many years before retiring from Dynax.

A member of Barnhardt Baptist Church in Stewartsville, Guyeannetta found joy in serving others. Alongside her best friend Betty Gordon, she spent countless hours helping with the church's children's and youth an expression of her generous spirit and love for young people.

She is survived by her daughter Kelly D. Matthews and husband Kevin; her grandson Andrew Gibbs Sr. and his wife Stephanie; and great-grandchildren Andrew "Drew," Dylan, and Riley Gibbs; a step-daughter, Kim Powers Tyree; grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth and Brad.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Barnhardt Baptist Church, 1033 Brittle St., Stewartsville, VA 20495.

Those wishing to make memorials should consider the youth programs at Barnhardt Baptist Church or a charity of choice.

Guy and I were good friends in elem school, church, brownies. We spent alot of time together as young girls. So sad to read of her passing. She was a good friend.
