I had only met Jim once and that was Thanksgiving last year. He was a wonderful guy and I would have loved to have known him better. He will be missed. Jennifer and Richard Greene (Cathy Gwaltney's son and daughter in law)

Heaven is much better place today. "Big Jim" is there, drawing smiles with his stories of an extraordinary life. Luckily I have a lifetime of memories of the man, who put friends and strangers at ease, and found beauty and peace in places most often taken for granted. As a young boy and throughout my life, Big Jim made his home my home, putting me at ease, with a gentleness rarely seen in such a giant of a man. As I grew up, I treasured the rare times spent with him at the beach or family gatherings, knowing I could always slip out to a back deck, and find him there, willing and able to give me a laugh, and to show me the joy of a quiet moment with a sunset. Big Jim loved with his words, hugs were unnecessary. Every boisterous greeting of "Hippie", his nickname for me, brought a wave happiness to me. Even now, as I wipe away my tears, I can't help but smile, knowing Big Jim would want it that way.
To Mrs. Young, Trickie, my treasure of a friend, Don, and the entire Young family, I grieve for you and with you. I'm at a loss for words to say. I just loved Big Jim, loved the family he created and allowed me to be part of. My heart is with you.

My sincere sympathy to Nanny Young. (I LOVE YOU)
To My Papa: I will always be reminded of the stories you would tell around the table or just in conversation. He was kind, generous, and loving; especially to his beloved wife. He always kept the yard up if you wanted him that's where you would find him. Rest in peace and you know that all who knew you will make sure your beloved is cared for, that is something I will alway's think about, the love you had for her and expressed it. You are an example for all of us.

This makes me so sad for the Young family. Pat and I have been best friends since the 60s, and when I think back to those days, I can still see Mr. Young in their kitchen, making his famous steaks, salads, and pecan pies. He was always so funny and easy to talk to. He was also crazy about his gorgeous wife Jean and was never too shy to say so. I stayed at the Youngs so much I started calling him 'Dad' and he always answered me when I did. Rest in peace you precious man. You were so loved by so many.

My condolences to the Young Family. He will be surely missed. Especially his pecan pies "the best". He will never be forgotten. He had a good life and a remarkable wife and he expressed this so many times. I alway's love to hear any story he had to tell. I am so honored to have know him over many years.
