Hobart Dooley Obituary

H. Guy Dooley Jr., 81, of Troutville, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011. He was born in Roanoke, Va., August 13, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart G. Dooley Sr. and Louise Metz Dooley. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Madora Clements Dooley; son and daughter-in-law, Steven G. and Phyllis Dooley, Richmond, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Douglas Hiller, Daleville, Va., Rita and Roy Patsel, Rhonda and Bill Wilhelm, all of Troutville, Ramona and Brent Ferguson, Blue Ridge, Va.; 11 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; two greatgrandchildren; one stepgreatgrandchild; brother, Thomas I. Dooley, Montvale, Va.; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Rayford Harris, Roanoke, Nancy Aliff, Troutville, Va.; sister-in-law, Barbara G. Clements, Troutville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. He was a retired Engineering Manager with C&P / Bell Atlantic Telephone Companies with 35 years service. Guy was a longtime member of Glade Creek Lutheran Church and served as Council President, Treasurer, and Trustee. He is presently a member at St. Philip Lutheran Church. He was a member of Williamson Road Masonic Lodge No. 163 AF & AM, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Kazim Temple, Roanoke Valley Shrine Club, the Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 59 and Roanoke Elks Lodge No. 197. Guy was an avid golfer with many, many golfing buddies. He enjoyed spending time with his entire family at the beach every year. The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland Home Health Care and Amedisys Hospice Services for their dedication and loving care. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's East Chapel noon Monday, February 7, 2011, with the Rev. David C. Derrick officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Shrine Children's Hospitals, c/o Kazim Shrine Temple, 628 Campbell Ave., Roanoke, Va., 24016. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
