April 27, 1961 - October 30, 2024
Hyo Sun Butterworth, 63, of Moneta, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her father, Won-Young Kim; mother, Soon-Rye Lee; and daughter, Deborah Lynn Butterworth.
Surviving are her children, Sandra Butterworth-Ward, Cynthia Butterworth, and Kimberly Butterworth; her grandchildren, Aidan Butterworth, Glenn Ward Jr., Jeremiah Berard, Elaina Ward, Jordan Green, Walter Butterworth, and Ryker Wimmer; and her son-in-law, Glenn Ward.
She was born in the Republic of Korea. Her hobbies and interests were spending time with her grandchildren and doing family activities, crochet, karaoke, golf, cooking, collecting Precious Moments, gardening and fishing. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.Oakeys.com.

I am so sorry to read this! What a devastating loss to so many who love her dearly! She will always be a wonderful role model as her memories carry on through everyone that knew her. She was the real-life definition of a classy, intelligent, strong woman and anyone that was lucky enough to be influenced by her tireless endurance and love, can't be anything less than grateful. She will be deeply missed, as there isn't a single other person in this world that could come close to filling her shoes, or replacing her. I do know that her essence and spirit will carry on in her amazing children and grandchildren and through them, I hope she lives on forever. Again, I am so sorry to hear of such a devastating loss to such a wonderful family. Please reach out if I can do anything at all to help during this time. I've heard grief defined as, love with no place to go. I don't know if that definition will help at all, but it helped me, so that's why I'm sharing it here. I'm so sorry for your loss.
