J. Ellett Obituary

J. Albert (Ab) Ellett, 85, of Roanoke, Va., died on Monday, July 19, 2010. "Ab" was preceded in death by his brothers, Rufus P. (Junie) Ellett and Watson H. (Watt) Ellett; brothers-in-law, J. Wysor (Joe) Smith, O. Wayne Harper, and Robert H. (Bob) Kulp. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Koiner Baker Ellett; two sons, Albert Claiborne (Clai) Ellett and his friend, Lauri A. Smith, of Washington, D.C., and G. Baker Ellett, of Richmond, Va.; granddaughter, Nancy Koiner Hancock and her husband, Brian Hancock; greatgrandson, Jeffrey Arland Hancock, of St. Albans, W.Va.; sister, Frances E. (Liggie) Smith; sisters-in-law, Kathryne B. (Sugar) Ellett, Lou B. Harper, Betty B. Kulp, Lee P. Baker, and Linda M. Ellett; brother-in-law, Ralph K. Baker; and many nieces and nephews. Ab loved his family, he loved his friends, he loved his church and he loved the legal profession. Ab passed away at Lewis Gale Hospital and his family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for their kindness. His remains have been dedicated to medical science. Memorials may be made to the Second Presbyterian Fund, Inc. or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in the Sanctuary at Second Presbyterian Church, 214 Mountain Ave., SW, Roanoke, Va., led by Gerald Carter, CLP.
