James Childress Obituary

James Booker Childress, 89, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009. He was a former employee of Lynchburg Foundry and a United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Childress. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Douglas Carter, of Christiansburg; two sons, James Richard Childress, of Christiansburg, and Benny Dale Childress, of Shawsville; several stepchildren; two sisters, Sue Ellen Childress, of Dublin, and Gaynelle Coffey, of Ohio; three grandchildren and one greatgrandson; several nieces and nephews; and a special cat, Winky. Memorial services will be held Monday, September 28, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Michael Sweeney officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your favorite charity. The Childress family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory. www.mullinsfuneralhome.com.
