James Bays FERGUSON

James Bays Ferguson, 59, of Rocky Mount, joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Hospice House in Charlottesville, Va., after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his father, James Oscar Ferguson and by his mother, Dorothy Lena Altice Ferguson McGhee.

JB is survived by his brother, Darryl Ferguson (Jennifer), of Quincy, Ill.; sisters, Sandra Ferguson, of Glade Hill, Pamela Ferguson Holland (Tommy Lee), of Rocky Mount and Wanda Ferguson Holloway (Leonard), of Rocky Mount; two nieces and seven nephews.

JB accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on January 15, 2013. As his testimony, he shared that there were many blessings and unexplained miracles in his life. He knew that the Lord was looking out for him.
JB was born on May 22, 1954 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. JB was a life-long resident of Franklin County. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 1972. JB worked over thirty years building manufactured homes and windows. He was one of the first seven people that built the first home that came off the Mod-U-Kraf assembly line in Rocky Mount. JB was an avid sports fan and enjoyed softball and NASCAR. He played and coached over two thousand softball games over the years. During these years, JB enjoyed the friends and teammates that made games enjoyable.
A memorial service will be held on July 30, 2013, at the Henry Fork Church of the Brethren, 130 Doe Run Road, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the memorial service planned at 11 a.m. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice House, 501 Park Street, Charlottesville, Virginia, 22902, in lieu of flowers.
