Janet J. Hamrick

March 8, 1934 - August 19, 2025

Janet J. Hamrick, 91, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

She worked at Raleigh Court Elementary for 25 years. Janet enjoyed shopping for antiques and had a house full of her treasured finds.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James L. "Hank" Hamrick; two infant sons; daughter, Janet H. Hamrick; and son-in-law, Jon Kaufman.

She is leaving behind her daughter, Diane Higgs (Steve); granddaughters, Lydia Higgs and Elizabeth Higgs (Jake Boykin); grandsons, Mathew Higgs (Tyler) and Will Kaufman; great-granddaughter, Lucy Higgs; sister, Nancy Bane (Harold); and many nephews, nieces and extended families.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Friendship South and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital ICU, PCU, and Palliative Care. You all treated her with love and compassion and for that we are forever grateful.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Oakey's South Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.Oakeys.com.
