Jean Dudley McGuire, 92, of Vinton, Va., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 14, 1933, in Franklin County, Va., to Vernon and Goldie Dudley, Jean lived a life full of laughter, love, and faith. She was a devoted wife and mother who poured her heart into caring for her family with love, joy and laughter. Even as she faced the challenges of dementia in her later years, Jean's smile and quick wit continued to shine through. Even though the years brought changes in memory and mind, her faith in Christ and her love for her family remained. Jean's smile and spirit brought light to everyone who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Stuart McGuire; her sister, Dorothy Shelor; and her brothers, Buford and Jimmy Dudley.
She is survived by her four children, Vicki LaRue (Frank), Gay Turner, Betty Jo Overstreet, and Butch McGuire (Carolyn); seven grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, Bradley, Kara, Luke, Tyler, and Jodi; and nine great-grandchildren, Sydney, Carter, Audrey, Evan, Camden, Jaxon, Ally, Colson, and Carter. She is also survived by her sisters, Lois McGuire and Betty Lou Booth; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Our Lady of the Valley for their exceptional compassion and care. Your kindness and tireless dedication meant more than words can express.
The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at Vinton Baptist Church on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. with burial immediately following at Mountain View Cemetery.
