Jewell Cheatwood Bryant
November 16, 1939 - November 9, 2025
Jewell C. Bryant passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred W. Cheatwood Sr; mother, Nell Graham Cheatwood; and brother, Alfred W. Cheatwood Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bryant (John Cirello); son, Randy Bryant (Laura); her beloved grandsons, Shane and Ian; brother, Wayne D. Cheatwood (Doris); her longtime beloved, Steve Smith; in addition to many beloved cousins and dear friends.
Jewell was born on November 16, 1939, in Christiansburg, Va. She lived the majority of her life in Roanoke. In the mid-2010s, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. Jewell was a graduate of William Fleming High School.
Her early adult years were spent raising her children, working at First National Exchange Bank and enjoying beach vacations with her family.
In her early 40s, she started her own business, Discount Wallpaper. This modest business soon turned into a highly successful interior design business that she branded Perfect Touch Interiors. She spent 20+ years doing what she thoroughly enjoyed and then sold the business and started a well-deserved retirement.
Jewell was one who truly enjoyed her life. For years, she and Steve rode Harleys with a group of friends. During this time, she was affectionately nicknamed Rosebud and as such, at the age of 58, got a rosebud tattoo on her ankle. She loved traveling and trying new adventures, such as bungee jumping and parasailing.
Jewell was a fiercely dedicated mother and grandmother. Family came first and was deeply important to her. She took time to be closely involved in their lives and was a constant source of encouragement and support. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel in Roanoke followed by a graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to Good Samaritan Hospice in Roanoke, Va. They were a great comfort to Jewell and her family in the final months of her life. Online condolences may be shared with her family by visiting
