John William "Will" EDWARDS obituary, Roanoke Valley, VA

John EDWARDS Obituary

John William (Will) Edwards, 82, of Roanoke, Va., and Bonneau, S.C., a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight Systems, died on Friday evening, May 24, 2013, in a Charleston, S.C., hospital. His Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Preston Oaks Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Preston Oaks Baptist Church, 102 Preston Ave., NE, Roanoke, VA 24012.
Mr. Edwards was born on November 3, 1930, in Wytheville, Va., a son of R. Gratton Edwards and Eva Susan Surratt Edwards. He was a member of the Preston Oaks Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., where he also participated in the World Changers and the disaster relief team. Mr. Edwards loved the outdoors, especially traveling and camping with his wife, and he also enjoyed attending NASCAR races. He was a Mason and a member of the Teamsters Union. Mr. Edwards was the widower of Shirley Lambert Edwards.
Surviving are, his daughter, Tammy E. Howard and her husband, Billy, of Bonneau, S.C.; his son, J. Kenny Edwards and his wife, Donna, of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Rhea Kitts, of Graham, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Deloras A. Nelms, of Powells Point, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
