John Teeter Obituary

John Kenyon "Ken" Teeter

October 19, 2021

John Kenyon "Ken" Teeter, 42, of Salem, Va., slipped peacefully from the arms of his Mother into the waiting arms of Jesus on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

He was a talented, self-taught drummer and played in several bands throughout his life, where he made lifelong friends. He was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church where he was a beloved drummer in their Praise Band.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Earl Kenyon Paitsell, Virginia Davis Paitsell (Nana), John Harold Teeter, and Betty Drymon Phillips, and uncle, William Jeffrey Teeter.

He is survived by his parents, John David Teeter and Fara Paitsell Teeter of Salem, Virginia; aunts, Dawn Paitsell Hollandsworth, and Kathryn Teeter (wife of deceased William Jeffrey Teeter); uncles, Robert Lee Teeter, Thomas Dickson Teeter, and Daniel Mahrk Teeter; and cousins, Charles Edward Lukens II (April), Fara Lukens Long (Derek), Broxton Davis Long, Leslie Van Gieson (Robbie), Karla Teeter, and Collin Teeter.

The family would like to thank the Roanoke Rescue Mission for their wonderful love and support of Ken in their Recovery Program. In addition, the family gratefully appreciates the staff at Friendship South Rehab Center for their loving care of Ken and his family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Roanoke Rescue Mission, the Woodlawn United Methodist Church, or to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.oakeys.com.
