Joyce Preddy Wertz, 76, of Salem, Va., passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022.
She was born on Thursday, August 16, 1945, to the late Broughton W. Priddy and Anna May Hall Priddy. Also preceding her in death was her mother-in-law, Pearl Wertz; father-in-law, Wilbert Wertz; her spouse of 50 years, Don Wertz; brother, Robert Priddy; brothers-in-law, Glenn Martin and Ivan DeVore; and nephews, David Crouch and Ricky Crouch.
Joyce was a beautician and loved spending time at her shop. Everyone that walked in her shop was a friend. She would spend countless hours at the shop working, talking, cleaning and of course making everyone beautiful.
She is survived by sons, Steven Wertz (Tina) and Douglas Wertz (Brandie); sister, Barbara DeVore; grandchildren, Erin Wertz Hale (Rick), Ethan Wertz (Madeleine), Michael Wertz, Patricia Wertz, Ivy Floyd, and Jared Gross; great-grandchildren, Kolbie Hale and Brendan Hale; brother-in-law, Bill Crouch; sisters-in-law, Jane Crouch, Brenda Martin, and Joan Priddy; nieces, Tammy Riggs, Becky Martin, Debbie McClure, and Becky Rigby; nephews, Greg Martin, Danny DeVore, and Sunny DeVore; and close friends, Barbara Powell, Jeff and Tracey Goodwin, and Whitney and Caleb.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastor Tim Wright of Abundant Life Church officiating.
