March 12, 1971 - January 18, 2025
Kelly Lynn McGinnis-Phoenix of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the age of 53. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing.
Kelly was born on March 12, 1971, in Akron, OH. Her deep devotion and fiery spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her best friend, Scott Cook.
Kelly's memory and legacy is remembered by her boyfriend, Randy Brown; her parents, Janice and Jeff Hilton of Writz, VA, Steve McGinnis of Sandusky, OH; her daughters, Calli Lynn McGinnis (Brandon Mayo) and Stevie Rae Phoenix; stepchildren, Chase Brown and Aslin Brown; grandchildren, Brayden Mayo, Geeavanni Mayo, and Mi'shalay Holmes; and stepgrandson, Carter Brown. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
An artist at heart, Kelly, spent her time creating drawings, paintings, and jewelry. She had a knack for building and enjoyed playing her guitar. Kelly was known as the neighborhood mom, welcoming any kid as her own. She is a devoted mother and grandmother who adored spending time with her grandkids on the river.
The family wishes to thank everyone who donated to the Go Fund Me.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Tony Gray officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for rubber ducks, since Kelly loved them. The family asks that anyone attending the service to dress casually. Condolences may be made to the family at www.Oakeys.com.
