Kenneth G. "Ken" Hale, 81, of Buchanan, Va., passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Funeral 2 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at New Covenant Church. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Oakey's North Chapel (540) 362-1237.

Ken was my direct supervisor in the Norfolk Southern Lab for eight years. He was a wonderful manager and friend. My prayers and condolences to his family.

Kenny has been a good friend since Elementary School, when we rode the school bus together to Burlington School. He will be missed by many, including me.

Ken and I were roommates at Mars Hill. We graduated back in 1966 but stayed in touch through all these years with occasional visits but mostly by phone. The last time we saw each other was at our 50th year reunion in Asheville. I will truly miss him.

I will miss Ken. We had many conversations over the years. He especially enjoyed talking politics and farming. His love for animals was reflected in his care of his livestock. He was an honest and principled man. Love and condolences to Nell and his family.
