Margaret BLANKENSHIP Obituary

Margaret Marshall Blankenship, 92 of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Margaret graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor's Degree, which was followed up years later during her teaching career by a Master's Degree. Margaret was proud that she had taught for decades in Roanoke Public School Systems, finally retiring from Roanoke City Schools. She was a lifelong member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Hanan Edward Marshall; her first husband, George W. Booth; her son, G. Wythe Booth; and second husband, Eual Matthew "Pat" Blankenship.
She is survived by two nephews, William Frederick Marshall and Christopher Lee Marshall; a niece, Elizabeth Marshall Dobbs; great-nephews; great-nieces; and other relatives.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Margaret's name be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or to Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church.
A private service celebrating Margaret's life will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

Although I am a distant relative, I wish to convey my respects about your Margaret's passing on. She is listed in my family tree, and I have found another Margaret Marshall, as well, aside from myself. My connection is with MTC Marshall & Josie Bulow (sp?) Marshall on my father's side in Arkansas. I'm in CA. You are all in my heart.

Hank,
Sorry to hear about your loss. I realized she was gone when I went down yesterday to see Margaret and realized no one was there and she had passed. She thought of you as her son and you had brought much happiness. It was a blessing knowing her and being a part of our family.

Margaret was our back door neighbor for many years and there was no one more generous and kind. She took my daughter,Sallie, to the beach with her many years ago when sallie was very young . Margaret always had time for her. She will always be remembered by our whole family. We are sorry to hear of her passing.

Hank,
So sorry to hear of this. She was valued by our family, especially Michael, Matthew, and Lisa. She was their adopted grandmother with many fond memories of her often discussed by us.
