Martha Fields Obituary
March 19, 1934 - January 7, 2023
Martha Ann Walker Stewart Lavinder Fields, 88, passed away on January 7, 2023, at her home in Indianapolis. She was born on March 19, 1934, in Salem, Va., the daughter of the late Jennings and Annabelle Wood Walker. Martha was preceded in death by husbands, Joseph Clay Stewart Jr. and Kyle F. Lavinder; her brother, Julian Walker; and sisters, Katherine Walker Burnette, Irma Jean Walker Boothe, and Patricia A. Walker Ibrahim.
Martha is survived by her husband, G. Thomas "Tom" Fields; her daughter, Donna Barger (Tim) of Vinton, Va.; and sons, Barry Stewart (Julie) of Shawsville, Va., and Brian Stewart (Vivian) of Roanoke, Va. Also surviving is her sister, Mary Walker Snow; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Martha was a homemaker and enjoyed family and friends. She was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Lotz Funeral Homes, 1303 E. Main St., Salem, with visitation there Friday, January 13, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke, Va.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha's name to the National Parkinson's Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018. www.shirleybrothers.com.
