Martha Taylor Obituary

Martha Randolph Taylor

October 16, 1975 - August 15, 2025

Martha Randolph "Randy" Taylor, 49, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on August 15, 2025, after enduring a more than decade-long cancer treatment plan. Randy was a force of nature-tall, freckled, red-haired, and full of life. She was a devoted mother of two children, Sadika Randolph Malik (Sadie), 13, and Waqar Amin Malik, Jr. (Jay), 15, a dedicated special education teacher, and an accomplished artist. Known for her bold spirit, humor, and deep compassion, Randy brought joy to every room, humor to every moment, and resilience to every challenge. Her spirit lives on in all who were fortunate to know her. She was never alone in her fight. Her family cared for her throughout the entire journey, and the support of friends and relatives-who helped with her children, meals, and emotional care-was a source of strength and comfort. With the love of cousins, extended family, and friends, Randy faced each day with hope and courage. Randy is survived by her children, Sadie and Jay; her parents, Linda Bohon Taylor and W. Dorsey Taylor, Jr.; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Taylor Ewell (Bo), L. Page Ewell, III, Lucy Colston Taylor O'Shields and Stephen Rae O'Shields; her niece and nephews, L. Page Ewell, IV, Natalie Taylor Ewell, Colston Lee Conrad, Tyler Jordan O'Shields, and Logan Rae O'Shields; and her aunts and uncles, Emily Hume Taylor Gile, Bradford Willis Gile, Phyllis Bohon Allen and Calvin Thomas Bohon, Jr. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Janie Bell Bohon Fetter, Emily Rawlings Taylor, and Walter Dorsey Taylor; aunt, Sherry Cundiff Bohon; and uncle Ronald Edgar Allen.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Randy's life will be held on September 20, 2025, at 3 p.m. at LinDor Arts in Roanoke, VA. To honor her legacy, a memorial marker bearing her name will be placed at The Monticello Association graveyard in Charlottesville, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local cancer support organization or to Lincoln Terrace Elementary School in Roanoke, VA.
