Mary Ella Hall

Mary Ella Hall was born on March 11, 1946 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the union of the late Viola and Henry Jemison. Her mother passed in 1955 when she was 9 years old. She and her sister Emma Jean moved to Cleveland, OH to live with their sister Rosa Mae. Emma Jean introduced Mary to her future husband Billy Ray Hall while he was on military leave. They were joined in matrimony on September 29, 1965. They raised two beautiful daughters together until his unfortunate and untimely death in 1969. Mary was baptized and re-dedicated her life to the Lord at Cornerstone Baptist Church on August 7, 1994.Mary was a long-time and beloved member of Bible Baptist Church. She sung in the choir, served on the usher board, visited the sick and shut in, supported evangelism duties, and helped with church social events.

Mary attended John Hay high school, Cuyahoga Community College, and Medical Transcription Training. Mary sold Tupperware, worked as a factory worker for Mr. Coffee, a care provider for the mentally challenged at Hattie Larlham. She did whatever she needed to do to provide for her girls. Her most cherished accomplishment was her time as a water aerobic instructor for the YMCA in Warrensville. Mary's passions included traveling, gardening, walking in the park, spending time with loved ones, serving the Lord and spreading His word.

Preceding her in death was one baby brother, and four sisters: Mattie, Janie, Nicki, and Emma Jean.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory one sister, Rosa Hargrove, and her two daughters: Creshinda Payten (Steve Payten) and Antoinette Hall (Andre Edwards), five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary passed away at Cleveland Clinic Hospital on September 14, 2025 after a long hard fought battle with cancer…then she went home to rest and be with the Lord.
