Patricia Kelly Turner, an adventurous spirit and a beloved wife, mother and friend, died at her home in Roanoke, Va., on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born in Pennington Gap, Va., Pat graduated from Pennington High School and attended Radford College before moving to Roanoke and joining the copy desk at The Roanoke Times. She was a voracious reader and a stickler for correct grammar and, while working at The Roanoke Times, she met her husband, Joel Turner, to whom she was devoted for 45 years.

Pat had a zest for life and during her downtime from line dancing could be found traveling across the United States and abroad to such places as Ireland, Belize, South Africa, St. Thomas and Newfoundland.

She was a caring soul to whom her tribes, of which there were many, could turn for a sympathetic ear or a helping hand.

Pat is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Camille Turner Harvey; her son-in-law, Neil Harvey; her sister, Joan Kelly Lynn; her brothers, Larry Kelly and Doyle Kelly; and her dear friend, Joe Ratliff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel; her parents, Harold and Ida Kelly; sister, Mary Jane Kelly.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Genesis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren Carswell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Condolences may be shared with her family by visiting:
