Pattie Akers Reed

Pattie Akers Reed, 91, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009. She was born on August 27, 1917, to the late George William and Sarah Lane Akers. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Raymond Reed. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Freeman Cockram, of Floyd, Shirley and Harry Sears, of Mount Carbon, W.Va.; five grandchildren and spouses, David and Beverly Cockram, Patricia Parsley, Jeanette and Stanley Chaffin, Lisa and Michael Bowman, Kimberly and Brian Williams; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two half-brothers, Henry Akers, Russell Akers; two half sisters, Mary Alice Akers, Linda Duncan. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Cannaday and the Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Blackwell. Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
