Polly Bixler of Roanoke, Virginia went to her forever home on Sunday, October 24, 2021 after a brief illness.

Polly was a Roanoke native and graduated from Roanoke Catholic High School. She attended Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU).

Polly was a multi-talented singer, actor, and artist. Many will remember her for the television show "Panarama" which she hosted for many years. She was also seen on the stages of Mill Mountain Theatre in numerous roles including the starring role in the musical "Irene". She met her future husband Larry "over the footlights" as he was the musical director for the show. A year later they became a married couple and remained so for the next 42 years.

She began creating artwork from collected memorabilia and in 2009 won the top prize in the mixed media category at the Taubman Museum's 51st Annual Sidewalk Art Show. She also shared her talents with elementary school students in Roanoke City Schools as she served as an instructional assistant for several years prior to retirement. After retirement, Polly and Larry traveled to many of the major cities of Europe. The trips always included fine food and architecture, museums, and a concert or opera. Polly loved every moment of those adventures.

She is survived by her husband and her sister/cousin, Susan Garland.

Polly will be remembered as a loving, giving, and strong-willed Irish descendent with a passion for animals. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
