Peggy Stewart Obituary

Peggy Stewart

September 10, 1933 - August 26, 2025

Peggy Stewart, 91, of Vinton, Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude Elliot "C.E." Stewart; her parents, Samuel and Kathleen Wright; and several siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathy Ann Stewart, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a devoted member of Belmont United Methodist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She also attended Rainbow Forest Baptist Church and Parkway House of Prayer throughout her life.

Professionally, Peggy dedicated many years to Equifax and later served as secretary to Rick Via for five years.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Good Samaritan Hospice and Caring Companions for their compassionate care, with special thanks to Debbie Chandler, who lovingly remained by Peggy's side throughout the past year.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rick Via and Pastor Jeff Keaton officiating. An interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. Condolences may be shared at www.Oakeys.com.

Yesterday

Kathy, I just saw that your Mom passed away and the service is already over. I am so sorry to hear that but I know we will see her again. You will be in my prayers during these difficult days and those to come. I worked with her at Equifax in case you don't remember me. That was many years ago. Even though we haven't been in touch lately, I will always remember her and her kind ways.
