Ralph P. Stacey

Ralph P. Stacey, 65, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with his Lord and family on Wednesday evening, December 15, 2010. He was born in Richlands, Va., on August 26, 1945, son of the late Will and Mattie Bell Stacey. Five of his brothers, Clarence, Dan, Virgil, Harold and Homer Stacey, and three sisters, Eliza Roberts, Altie Marie Stacy, and Sylvia Allison, also preceded him in death. Mr. Stacey was an active member of East Gate Church of the Nazarene where he enjoyed helping his buddy, Justin Bruffey. He liked carving wood figurines and was an avid collector of old tool, toys and cowboy memorabilia. After 35 years he was proudly retired from Halmode Apparel Inc. He later worked for ABX Air. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Shelia Mays Stacey; daughter, Lori (Wendy) Callahan and her husband, Lynn, of Salem; brother, Emory S. Stacy and his wife, Cassie, of Vinton; his beloved dog, T.C.; father-in-law, Linwood Mays, of Vinton; brother-in law, Harvey Mays and his wife, Catherine, of Vinton; special nephews, Jack, Cecil, Ken and Rufus; and numerous other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2010, at East Gate Church of the Nazarene, 2002 Eastgate Ave., NE, Roanoke, Va. 24012. Pastors Shannon Harris, George Stevenson and James Asberry will officiate. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 19, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
