Ruth Gladys Johnson Young

Ruth Gladys Johnson Young, 83, of Vinton, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Vestal Johnson and Mattie Martha McKinney Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Hartwell Young; four sisters, Mary Martin, Elsie Lamkins, Nelsie Johnson and Darlene Johnson; and three brothers, Ray, Paul and Dewey Johnson. Surviving are two sons, James Thomas Young of Martinsville, Va. and Clyde E. Young and wife, Patsy Young, of Roanoke; two daughters, Joan A. Young Moore and husband, Bobby R. Moore, of Collinsville and Charlene R. Young and husband, Bobby A. Hall, of Vinton; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; a very special sister and family always willing to help, Rebecca Taylor of Rocky Mount; another sister, Lola Mason of WinstonSalem, N.C.; and brothers, Jimmie Johnson of Sydnorsville and Ralph Johnson of Henry. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bobby Altice officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, Va. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
