Sandra "Sandy" Artis, 67, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
She was born in Roanoke, Va., on March 27, 1956. Sandy received her associate degree in early childhood education from Virginia Western Community College.
She enjoyed watching birds, beach trips with the family, and was an avid garden lover taking care of her precious plants and flowers. The most important thing to her was loving her children and grandchildren.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Rebecca and Harless Collins; son, Jeremiah Stephens; and many other family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jeff Artis; children, Tamisha Trent (Brock) and Mateja Kormann (Joe); numerous grandchildren; sisters, Janie Booth and Belinda Holman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Carilion Hospice and Friendship South for their care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Tim Wright officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association and The Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Oakeys.com.
