Stephen Hampton Obituary
May 31, 1947 - July 26, 2024
Stephen C. Hampton, 76, went to be with his Heavenly father on Friday, July 26, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Virginia Hampton; and his son, James Goin II.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn Hampton; his daughters, Stephanie Hogan (Rodger) and Shannon Moore; daughter-in-law, Devon "Shelly" Goin; grandchildren, Elizabeth Draper, Ryan Moore, Korri Berry, Patrick Goin, Jason Goin, Chelsea Hogan, and D. Hogan; sister, Mary Hampton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special young lady that we are proud of and love, Trystan Layman; and so many wonderful friends and their families.
Stephen was a graduate of William Fleming High School Class of 1965. He was an active member of the marching and jazz bands. He attended Ferrum College, as well. Stephen spent his working career as an Executive Housekeeper of America, overseeing housekeeping and laundry where he worked at numerous hospitals and facilities in Virginia. He retired at age 62 and served as a volunteer at Lewis Gale Medical Center for nine years.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care.
His service will be held on Stephen's first birthday in Heaven with his Heavenly Father at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Oakey's North Chapel, officiated by Pastor Rodger Hogan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Stephen's favorite charities, The League of Older Americans. Online condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.Oakeys.com.

When I see a fellow classmate has passed, I look in my Fleming annual and yes I surely remember him. I don't think he was in my classes tho. Looks like he had a wonderful and loving family.
