I was so sorry to hear of your great loss. I recall when my husband was in Vietnam and also after his death Ted would let me have groceries until I would get paid. I lived next door and both of you were such nice people. All of Radford will surely miss him.

T.W. and family,
During my last visit through Radford, I told my daughter the importance Ted’s Market had on our community. I will never overlook the times Mr. Bess gave my sister and I free sodas. Mr. Bess’ bigheartedness was greatly appreciated and now treasured. As we drove throughout Radford, I told my wife and daughter the times Mr. Bess would run a red light just to see if the other side of the red light was red as well. My family’s thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bess family at this time.
God Bless you all!

To the Bess family-We are so sorry for your loss-it truly is heaven's gain! Ted was such a fine man who cared for the needs of others and treated all people with respect. Delbert has many great memories of working at Ted's market and the Pizza House pizza after work there in your home. We pray for comfort and strength that only can come from the AWESOME GOD that Ted loved and served! We love you all!

TO THE BESS FAMILY:
We are so sorry to hear about your loss. I was raised by the Duncan family which was in plain sight of Ted's store. You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers. Ted was always willing to help me after i joined the Air Force just in case I needed help as he was totally aware of my families background. Joann you and Ted always seemed to be almost like family. It was nice when you and Ted was able to stop by one of our family reunion as we departed Radford for another year.
Again you and family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love

To the Bess Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Ted picked up vehicles from our shop and he would talk about his wife and how they ate dinner at the table and he would have his tie on and Ted would share his memories of his family that he loved so much and the olds days. He will truely be missed and I was blessed to get to know him. I will say a very special prayer for the family. God Bless.

Mr. Bess was one of those unforgettable
people you meet as a child. I followed on my dad's heel in Mr. Bess's store and was privilaged later to work for his son. who instilled in the him the same small town values
that he carried all his life. He placed his mark on Radford and the city as a whole.
