Valentine Coluni Obituary
Sept. 26, 1933 - December 22, 2022
Val Coluni passed away on December 22, 2022, at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Va. He died surrounded by his loving family.
Val was born in upstate N.Y. and was blessed with a life of learning, love and diverse experiences. He attended St. Lawrence University and Cornell University for his master's degree. Val enjoyed a long and rewarding career in Human Resources at various companies. But he was best known for his warmth, humor and care for others. His family will remember him for equal measures of silly fun and sage advice.
After living in many different communities, Val and his wife, Ginny settled into the Blacksburg community post retirement. They spent many wonderful summers at their family cottage on Sebec Lake, Maine.
Val is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ginny, and two daughters, Bobbi Coluni (Rick Witten) of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Maribeth Coluni (Herbie Hypes) of Christiansburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, John Coluni. Val and Ginny have five treasured grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary's Church in Blacksburg, Va., on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11 am. Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the International Alzheimer's Foundation or to a fund of your choice.

Ginny: I am so sorry to learn of Val's passing. He was all such a pleasure on our AARP trips to Richmond. We laughed and joked all the way. We made a great team working at the AARP issues.
I will miss him.
