Walter Harvey Lucas Sr.

Walter Harvey Lucas Sr., 64, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Monday, December 21, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. The son of the late Walter H. and Minnie D. Lucas he was also preceded in death by four sisters; and three brothers. He was a retired supervisor at Federal Mogul in Blacksburg with over 34 years of service. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Jean C. Lucas; sons, Walter Harvey Jr. and wife, Janifer, of Eggleston, and Brian S. and wife, Tracy M. Lucas, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, B.J. Hendricks, Kaila Hendricks, Brittany Hendricks, Aidan Lucas, Blake Spangler, Loren Lucas and Jocelyn Lucas; sisters, Lorraine Beckner, of Georgia, Mary Wheeler, of Narrows, Armenta Hedgcock and Juanita Hawks, both of North Carolina, Lillian Overstreet, of Salem, and Beverly Young, of Christiansburg; brothers, Jerry Lucas, of Blacksburg, Gary Lucas, of Arizona, and Donnie Lucas, of Christiansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2009, at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Rador Vaden and Tony Johnson. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
