To my dearest cousins: Robyn, Cathy and Ward.

My heart was broken when I heard of your dad's and my favorite uncle's passing. Even though I have not seen him or his familiy for years, I can tell you that he was larger than life and very special. He was an amazing, wonderful man. I'll always remember him for his dry wit, smooth talking and smile. It was an honor to be his niece.

Uncle Bill was an Angel when my Aunt Julia became ill. His devotion to his wife and children couldn't be denied. He was one of the good guys. Anyone would have been proud and blessed to be his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family or friend.

It's hard to believe Uncle Bill is gone. I somehow expected him to recover from his illness, since my own father recovered from three strokes. I know he is in a better place because he is no longer suffering, but it's still hard to accept when an illness strikes so suddenly. I wish I could make the process of losing your loved one or friend easier, but each one of us will grieve differently. For anyone who knew him, I wish I could take away the pain of losing such a great man. Unfortunatly, I can't.

I can't imagine how many lives Uncle Bill has touched, but I have to believe that he is happily having a family reunion in heaven. For some reason, I keep seeing Dolly (his beloved sheltie) greeting him too.

My Mom, Dad and I send our sympathy and love. We have shed quite a few tears knowing we won't see him for a while. This is the time, I wish I lived close enough to give each one of you a hug. It's ashame all of us have lost touch with each other and live in different parts of the country. It's also ashame that we haven't seen each other in years and something like this makes us realize it's time to get together again.

I smile when I think of how many family members were in heaven to
greet him. It's comforting to know he is with family now. Hopefully, he will watch over us and be a guiding force in our lives.

I was blessed to know him and call him my uncle. You all have my sympathy for the loss of your dad. He was loved by so many people. I know each one of you must be proud that he was your dad.

May God Bless you and every one else in your families. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. If I can do anything for you, please let me know.

With all my love,

Marty and her family

God Blessed our family to have a dad who cared for all of us. It is very sad to lose such an incredible giant of a man!!! He was loving, kind, intelligent, fun to be around, a great father, a great friend. He always had a positive attitude. It was a blessing to be with him the last 3 weeks of his life. He enjoyed scriptures, praying, singing songs and listening to poems before he could no longer communicate. We were blessed to have excellent doctors and nurses at Roanoke Memorial....Thanks to all his friends, nurses, doctors, everyone!
