Teresa,

I'm sorry about your Daddy. I am continuing to pray for you. I admire the respect you have shown him during this time of grief. To keep vigil at his home until he could be brought out after the fire was an honor to him. The quite respect you afforded to his estranged wife and step daughter at the service is a tribute of your love for him. You have uniquely encompassed Billy with pride. You have always been your Father's daughter and always will be. He wore your name tattooed on his arm, but his love for you is etched in his heart.

I worked with Bill at the VA hospital for over 30 years and was amazed how neat and organized he was. He had a compassion and understanding for his fellow veterans unlike anyone else I knew. He loved to tell stories about his wife, children, grandchildren and his dog. I had the pleasure of meeting his family at his surprise birthday party 11 yrs ago. It was an honor to know him and I will never forget him or other vets who have fought for my freedom. I pray for his family for the weeks to come. RIP

Bill,
You and I were two of the original five MA's hired for Primary Care. We five worked together to figure out the new position and you were always there to lend a hand or offer a suggestion. You never stood by waiting for someone else to fix a problem. That's what I remember most about you. You were there to help anyone who needed it. I am so sad that you're gone but you will always be remembered fondly by me and by all the people whose lives you have touched. I pray that God will ease the pain your family is feeling.
Your friend,
Wendy

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the family of Bill,
I am so saddened to hear of your loss but proud to say I knew Bill and became friends with such a special man. Bill trained me in Primary Care at the VA Medical Center. I was schooled by the best.
I know how much he loved his family for we had many conversations about our grandchildren and children....his passion for family and life was unsurpassed.
Bill will be missed by so many and live on in our hearts.
God bless you.

Bill,
You were loved by so many here at the VAMC. I truly enjoyed working with you for the 4 years that I did. You had a way with everyone and people respected you more than you would have ever known. We were sad to see you retire and this just breaks my heart to hear of your passing. You will always be remembered Bill, by us and by your patients (veterans). God Bless your family, may you now rest in peace!!!

I did not know Bill and do not know your family, but after reading Bill's military background, I wanted to express my condolences. It is men (and women) like Bill who fought, and are fighting, for the freedoms we enjoy everyday. I thank him for his service and life and I wish the family well in this time of grief.
