William Lange Obituary
March 13, 1947 - April 20, 2025
It is with great sadness that the Lange family announces the loss of their loving husband, father, and Pop Pop, Bill Lange. Born in New Jersey, he came to Roanoke, his forever home.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mildred Lange; and his in-laws, Alex and Ida Suminski.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Lorraine. Bill left a proud legacy of three children and eight grandchildren, daughter, Heather Lange Tinsley (Rob); sons, Todd (T.J.) and Aaron Lange; and grandchildren: Georgia, Madison, Clayton, Connor, Carter, Kennedy, Tristan, and Tinsley. He is also survived by two sisters, Fay Farissier (Wayne) and Lois Wohlfert; brother-in-law, Richard Suminski (Janice); and nieces and nephews.
After arriving in Roanoke, he joined the Army National Guard, took classes at Roanoke College, and worked at Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Throughout the years, he became a realtor and entrepreneur owning a Dunkin Donuts, several food establishments, and rental properties.
Bill was an avid reader and loved all kinds of sports, especially golf. He played a fast game and expected everyone to play fast. He was also a referee and umpire for the Virginia High School League and got to umpire at the Cooperstown Baseball Tournament, where one of his grandsons played. He was a quiet and fun-loving guy who loved and was proud of his family.
Bill is now on his final "Fairway to Heaven".
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Basilica of Saint Andrew at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The family will receive friends at a reception at Roanoke Country Club from 3 to 6 p.m.
