Zhicheng Zhao Obituary

Zhicheng Zhao of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023, with his loved ones by his side.

Zhicheng was born in Liaoning, China, on May 17, 1946, as one of seven children - he had four brothers and two sisters.

He graduated from Nankai University, one of the top public research universities in Tianjin, China, with an engineering degree. After graduating, Zhicheng's first major career change was becoming a research scholar at what's now known as the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He spent two years within that role until he relocated to Christiansburg, Virginia, where he opened and managed his own electronics repair store, Doctor Electronics, for over ten years. Zhicheng then worked at Lee Hartman & Sons, Inc. for almost one year before he retired.

Zhicheng is remembered as an easy-going man with a sweet tooth who could fix anything related to electronics. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Xuan Zhao; his son-in-law, Feng Chen; his granddaughter, Sarah Chen; and numerous other family members.

A private service was held at Oakey's South Chapel in Roanoke, Virginia, with close relatives. Zhicheng will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia.
