Barbara Locklear
PEMBROKE — On the morning of July 15, 2016, Mrs. Barbara Locklear passed away peacefully with family by her side at Morrison Manor Hospice of Scotland County in Laurinburg, N.C. At the time of her passing she was 83 years old.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Harpers Ferry Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1932, to Fannie and Allen Lowry. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Riley Locklear Jr (R.J.), both parents as well as her sisters, Annie Ruth, Vernie Mae, Josephine; her brother, Horace; and a grandson, Michael Alan Locklear.
Barbara is survived by her four sons, Alan, Keenan (Loretta), and Alex of Pembroke and Keith (Sandy) of Maysville Ky.: a brother-in-law, Sturgeon Locklear of Pembroke; her sister-in-laws, Sussie Davis of Virginia, and Dorothy Maynor of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barbara was a long time social worker with the Public Schools of Robeson County, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a long time member of Harpers Ferry Baptist Church. She was also a member of the church choir, the Pembroke Women's Choir, and VFW Auxiliary. Because of her generosity, wise counsel, and loving spirit, she was loved by many and considered as a second Grandmother and role model.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Revels Funeral Home Pembroke.

Ms Barb will be missed...I have memories of her with me on a mission trip in Alasaka in 2002...such a loving lady...your race is finished....tewards are for you now....Amen
