BRENDA JOYCE BRITT

GOLDSBORO — Brenda Joyce Britt, 68, of Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022. She was born Nov. 29, 1953, to parents Ellery and Ruth Britt of Lumberton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ellery Britt.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth Britt of Lumberton; her brother, Jerry Britt (Kathie) of Mesa, Arizona; her nephew, Michael Britt (Amy) and his children, Maddox and Aubrey, of Mesa, Arizona; her niece, Kristina Escobedo, and her daughter, Emelia, of Mesa, Arizona; her aunt, Carol Chappell Davis and family, Danny Lee, Matthew, Nicholas, Madisyn, Willa, and Maston, of Statesville; her cousins, Jasper Chappell, Donna Hinson and family, and Kim Leggett and family, all of Lumberton.

She had many friends who were like family, including her closest friends, Jennifer Heath and Lindsey Godwin of Goldsboro, and her lifelong friend, Judy Gullie, of Durham.

Her greatest love was her 96-year-old mother, Ruth. She attended Lumberton High School and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She served the State of North Carolina for 27 years and was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine at retirement. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from noon to 1 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Chapel, Inc., 809 E. FIfth St. in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.
