Think it was around 1970-1971 when integration came about and the 7th-8th grade classes were sent to Rowland School from Southside and were in my class. The girls were in separate classes due to so many students with Ms. Louise Adams and Ms. Nichols was over all the boys. Ms. Nichols was the first black teacher at Rowland School and I remember her so well. I never thought that she was still living until I saw this obituary but send my condolences to her family . I am now 69 so it has been a long time since those days.

Mrs. Nichols was my 4th grade teacher at Southside Middle School in the late 70s. She was the last of the "ole school" teachers. She did not play and the kids knew this fact. All it took was one look from Mrs. Nichols and it was over for you. Glad she was my teacher.
