Frank Horne
Frank Horne, 88, of Fair Bluff, NC, passed away on August 20, 2025 peacefully at his home.
He was the son of the late James M. Horne and the late Hallie Hardin Horne.
Frank was the founder and leader of Frank Horne Construction, Inc. for 56 years. He was known for his generosity, strong work ethic, and one-of-a-kind personality. A father figure to many, he was always willing to help those in need. He faithfully severed on numerous boards in leadership roles within his community, county, and the state of North Carolina. Frank was also a proud Master Mason for over 50 years and a Shriner for 45 years. He also had a passion for flying and enjoyed his Cessna 172RG and Aztec Twin. Frank loved to host, cook, and spend time with family and friends at his home on the Lumber River. To know him was to love him.
He is survived by his brother Gene Horne of Orrum, NC; children Brenda Hilburn (Sammy) of Cerro Gordo, NC, Lynda Derzanski (John) of Bladenboro, NC, Kathy Ashley of Fair Bluff, NC, Lou Horne (Kenny) of Fair Bluff, NC, daughter-in-law Mary Horne of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Daniel Horne (Jennifer) of Holly Springs, NC, Jessica Manning (TJ) of Wilmington, NC, Nicole Stephens (James) of Ocen Isle, NC, Zane Hilburn (Kimberly) of Cerro Gordo, NC, Nicholas Watson (Julie) of Nakina, NC, Kaitilin Cox (Ace) of Lake View, SC, Haley Fentress (Jordan) of Wilmington, NC, and his great-grandchildren; MacKenzie Horne, Miles Horne, Charlotte Horne, Joey Horne, Hannah Hilburn, Maddy Watson, Ella Watson, Cade Cox, and Ashley Keith Cox.
He is preceded in death by his siblings; Mildred Lawrence, Flossie McWhorter, Ralph Horne, Grady Horne, Jim Horne, JD Horne, Ray Horne; son Kenny Horne; grandson Byron Horne, and a great-granddaughter Evelyn Cox.
Visitation will be held, Monday August 25th from 6PM-8PM in the Meares & Jones Funeral Service, 795 Main St. Fair Bluff, NC.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 26th at 11AM at The Gathering Barn at Horne Bay Farm, 1559 Causey Rd. Fair Bluff, NC. Entombment will immediately follow the service in the Powell Cemetery, Fair Bluff, NC.
Pallbearers will be:
Ed Ashley, Bud Moore, Aaron Edwards, Willis Harper, Jimmy Horne, and Bobby Horne.
Jerry Horne and Legrand Cantey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
