James Emanuel Obituary

JAMES B. EMMANUEL

LUMBERTON — Mr. James B. Emanuel of 2901 Hedge Drive in Lumberton, was born Aug. 21, 1939, and departed this life on Feb. 24, 2023, making his journey of 83 years.

James, or JR as some called him, was famous for his love of old cars and motorcycles. Many recognized his talents in reconstructing antique motorcycles and cars. He was also known as a great painter. He had an enormous paint business, painting many prominent homes and businesses throughout the county.

One of his greatest accomplishments was being known as "the chicken bog man." His chicken bog was a favorite at the county fair each year. Many stopped by for the food and fellowship because James was sure to entertain them.

James leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Helen Emanuel; a son, Tony Emanuel (Penne); three daughters, Mona Hunt (Sankey), Teresa Chavis (Dwight) and Tracy Scott (Stoney); 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 4901 Independence Drive in Lumberton. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the same location as the visitation with Rev. Jim Butler, Rev. Tim Bell, and Bishop Jones officiating.

The family will be receiving guests at 2901 Hedge Drive in Lumberton.
